Growth hormone (GH) is a small protein that is made by the pituitary gland and secreted into the bloodstream. GH production is controlled by a complex set of hormones produced in the hypothalamus of the brain and in the intestinal tract and pancreas. GH acts on many tissues throughout the body. In children and adolescents, it stimulates the growth of bone and cartilage. In people of all ages, GH boosts protein production, promotes the utilization of fat, interferes with the action of insulin, and raises blood sugar levels. GH also raises levels of insulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF-1).

Subcategories

  • HGH - Human Growth Hormone (Somatropin)

HGH (Human Growth Hormone) stimulates growth in most body tissues, primarily due to increases in cell number rather than size. This includes skeletal muscle tissue. The transport of amino acids is also increased, as is the rate of protein synthesis. All of these effect are actually mediated by IGF-1 (insulin-like growth factor), a highly anabolic hormone produced in the liver and other tissues in response to growth hormone. A shift is seen where fats become a more primary source of fuel, further enhancing body fat loss.

  • Peptides

Peptides are naturally occurring biological molecules. Peptides are found in all living organisms and play a key role in all manner of biological activity. Like proteins, peptides are formed (synthesized) naturally from transcription of a sequence of the genetic code, DNA. There are 20 naturally-occurring amino acids and, like letters into words, they can be combined into an immense variety of different molecules. When a molecule consists of 2-50 amino acids it is called a peptide, whereas a larger chain of > 50 amino acids generally is referred to as a protein. Peptides are in every cell and tissue in the body.

  • SARMs

SARMs are a novel class of drugs similar to androgenic steroids, including testosterone. They aren’t currently approved for use in humans. The drugs are touted as an aid for muscle building without many of the side effects of traditional steroids. SARMs have been shown in early clinical studies to build lean mass and muscle strength.
